Special Character Codes

 

Some characters are not usually displayed on an HTML page. These are typically characters that are used to create mark-up symbols in the HTML code.

 

They are always enclosed in a mark-up that starts with an ampersand and ends with a semi-colon. Hence for a space you should enter

&times; × Multiplication Sign
&divide; ÷ Division Sign
&sup2; ² Squared Superscript Symbol
&sup3; ³ Cubed Superscript Symbol
&frac14; ¼ One Quarter Fraction
&frac12; ½ One Half Fraction
&frac34; ¾ Three Quarters Fraction
&pound; £ Pound Sterling Symbol
